Implied vs Expressly Reserved: Patrick Henry’s Anti-Federalist Speeches 5-7

In a series of speeches during the Virginia Ratifying Convention, Patrick Henry warned that despite arguments to the contrary, the federal government wouldn’t act like its powers were only those delegated to it. Instead, it would act like all others before it - all powers are granted except those expressly reserved.

A Day of Mourning: Bill of Rights Day

Ratified on Dec. 15, 1791, the Bill of Rights has been absolutely trashed for generations. Although many people will sing its praises - for just this one day of the year - “Bill of Rights Day” should really be a day of mourning - recognizing what the people have given up, and lost.

Killer Robot Plan Killed. For Now.

After initially approving a new plan to allow police robots to be armed with lethal force, the San Francisco Board of Supervisors faced such a severe public backlash that they actually reversed course and banned the practice, at least for now. But the plan only came to light due to a 10th Amendment law passed in 2021 addressing the unconstitutional federal militarization of local police.

Nullification Works: REAL ID Edition

James Madison told us that a “refusal to cooperate with officers of the Union” would create “very serious impediments” for federal enforcement - in just a single state. Forgotten Foundation: Patrick Henry and the Parson’s Cause

At just 27 years of age in 1763, Patrick Henry gained fame as a patriot for arguing that when even a king interfered with local lawmaking, he “degenerates into a Tyrant, and forfeits all right to his subjects’ obedience.” This set the stage for future opposition to the Stamp Act and serves as an early lesson in the power of resistance and nullification.

The Federal Court System is Dangerous to the Constitution and Liberty

Many opponents of the Constitution - and some supporters - warned us about the power of the federal court system. Time seems to have proven them right. It’s absolutely foolish to leave the fate of your liberty to the chance that five out of nine politically-connected lawyers – employed by the largest government in history – will do the right thing and limit that same government’s power.

The Central Bank vs the Constitution

The federal reserve is the engine that drives the biggest, most powerful government in the history of the world. We can trace its origins to Alexander Hamilton’s First National Bank in 1791. His arguments in support have provided legal cover to much of the monster state we live under today.
