Another Ohio Town Decriminalizes Marijuana Despite Federal Prohibition

While a small town decriminalizing cannabis may not sound significant, it is part of a larger movement in Ohio. More than three dozen Ohio localities have enacted decriminalization through local ballot measures over the last few years. Meanwhile, major Ohio cities including Cincinnati, Columbus and Cleveland have decriminalized marijuana through city council action.

To the Governor: Minnesota Passes Bill to Legalize Marijuana Despite Federal Prohibition

Under the final version of the bill passed in both the House and Senate, adults 21 and over could legally possess up to 2 ounces of marijuana in public. They would also be able to have up to 2 pounds of processed marijuana in their homes and grow up to 8 cannabis plants (4 mature).

Signed by the Governor: Maryland Law Regulating Adult-Use Marijuana Despite Ongoing Federal Cannabis Prohibition

In November 2022, Maryland voters passed Question 4, legalizing the use of cannabis by an individual who is 21 or older. The amendment also authorizes the Maryland General Assembly to “provide for the use, distribution, possession, regulation, and taxation of cannabis within the state.”

Maine Bill Would Allow CBD in Food Despite FDA Prohibition

The legislation would recognize cannabis and hemp as food as a protected right under the Constitution in Maine. In effect, this would ensure there is no state ban on the sale of food, drinks, or supplements containing cannabinoids or THC. This is crucial because the federal government continues to prohibit cannabis as a controlled substance, and despite removing hemp from the list of controlled substances, the federal government still prohibits the sale of CBD products in food under FDA rules.
