Lawsuit Alleges IRS Improperly Seized 60 Million Personal Medical Records

"An unnamed healthcare provider in California is suing the IRS and 15 unnamed agents, alleging that they improperly seized some 60 million medical records of 10 million Americans, including medical records of all California state judges on March 11, 2011. The search warrant for financial data pertaining to a former employee of the 'John Doe Company,' 'did not authorize any seizure of any healthcare or medical record of any persons, least of all third parties completely unrelated to the matter.' The medical records included information on psychological counseling, gynecological counseling, sexual and drug treatment, and other sensitive medical treatment data." Continue reading

5th Cincinnati IRS worker allegedly connected to scandal

"Despite the claim of just two employees being involved, FOX19 has exclusively learned from two separate sources that there could be at least four Cincinnati employees involved. Those four employees, whose names we have chosen to withhold until they have been officially confirmed, have each worked in the IRS Exempt Organizations Department. While the IRS is pointing at 'two rogue employees,' the number of organizations that were singled out has swelled to nearly 500. In addition, on Friday FOX19 obtained documents of a fifth Cincinnati IRS agent who reportedly came after a pro-life group in 2009." Continue reading

‘Monsanto Protection Act 2.0′ Would Ban GMO-Labeling Laws At State Level

"An amendment inserted into the 2013 Farm Bill passed by the House of Representatives' Agriculture Committee Wednesday would revoke the ability of individual states' lawmakers to pass GMO-labeling laws, food advocates warn. The amendment, introduced by Rep. Steve King, a California Republican, is the newest salvo in an ongoing battle between food advocates and companies like Monsanto that create and sell genetically modified and genetically engineered seeds, which grow into GMO crops and find their way into an estimated 70 percent of processed foods in American grocery stores." Bitcoin facing bank backlash in Canada too

"Virtex, based in Calgary, is an online market that matches Bitcoin buyers with sellers, with about $13-million of trades under its belt. But earlier this month Royal Bank of Canada quietly informed Mr. David that it would no longer do business with his company. 'They shut down our account without any reason,' said Mr. David, an ebullient entrepreneur with a background in technology companies. 'They just said we have the right to refuse service to whomever we wish.' For whatever reason, many in Canada's small but fast growing Bitcoin community are suddenly dealing with the same problem: The banks are shutting down the accounts of businesses that deal in it." A Christian Alternative to Health Insurance (ObamaCare Exempt)

"As nonprofits, health care sharing ministries aren't required to follow the same state and federal regulations as health insurance companies. The Affordable Care Act has a section that exempts members of health care sharing ministries from purchasing insurance. The Amish, Mennonite, and Indian tribe communities also are exempt from the penalty that will be incurred on Americans who fail to purchase health insurance by 2014. Since the law was passed in 2010, membership for Medi-Share and Samaritan Ministries has risen by about 40 percent. Christian health sharing ministries are largely unregulated, except by themselves." Insurers predict 100% to 400% Obamacare rate explosion

"Internal cost estimates from 17 of the nation's largest insurance companies indicate that health insurance premiums will grow an average of 100 percent under Obamacare, and that some will soar more than 400 percent, crushing the administration's goal of affordability. New regulations, policies, taxes, fees and mandates are the reason for the unexpected 'rate shock,' according to the House Energy and Commerce Committee, which released a report Monday based on internal documents provided by the insurance companies. The 17 companies include Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield and Kaiser Foundation." Continue reading

Japan stocks and consumer spending storm back on weak yen

"Growth jumped to a 3.5pc rate in the first quarter, vindicating the government’s efforts to break Japan’s deflation psychology and lift the country out of its 20-year ice age. 'Abe’s kickstart appears to have succeeded,' said Flemming Nielsen from Danske Bank. Retail sales are soaring as a 'wealth shock' electrifies the economy. The Nikkei index has risen has 70pc since November, with foreign hedge funds among the first to jump on the bandwagon. The weaker yen is already delivering a powerful punch, accounting for almost half the growth. The currency has dropped 30pc against the dollar and China’s yuan since August, and 37pc against the euro." Continue reading
