Texas House Passes Second Amendment Financial Privacy Act

Titled the Second Amendment Financial Privacy Act, the legislation would prohibit a financial institution operating in Texas from requiring or assigning a firearms code, which is defined as "any merchant category code approved by the International Organization for Standardization for a firearms retailer, including Merchant Category Code 5723."

To the Governor: Florida Passes 2nd Amendment Financial Privacy Act

The 2nd Amendment Financial Privacy Act would prohibit a payment settlement entity, merchant acquiring entity, or a third-party settlement organization from assigning a merchant category code or otherwise classifying a merchant that is a seller of firearms or ammunition separately from general merchandise retailers or sporting goods retailers.

North Carolina Committee Passes 2nd Amendment Financial Privacy Act

The proposed law would ban financial institutions from using a firearms code in connection with a payment card transaction involving a firearm retailer in North Carolina. The bill would also prohibit a financial institution from knowingly maintaining a record of individuals residing in this State who own firearms. They could also not discriminate against any firearms sellers due to a firearms code by imposing different terms or declining lawful card transactions.

Signed as Law: Nebraska Allows Permitless Concealed Carry in the State

The legislation amends existing state law to allow adults 21 and over to carry concealed firearms without a permit. Active-duty military personnel, National Guard members, and police officers under 21 can also carry concealed without a permit.
