Announcing the launch of Tea Party Grassroots – a Constitutional Liberty Coalition Project:
We are concerned that there are too many agendas at work on the national level which are hurting the potential impact of the standing at attention of genuinely motivated citizens, the real grassroots, coming together to turn the tide on an out of control Federal government.
Due to our concerns, we began to look around for another place for Tea Party organizers to list events that we could promote and use ourselves that did not claim to be “grassroots” and then proceed to violate most or all of the ethics of a genuinely grassroots movement.
A truly grassroots site would not:
* Ask the general public to “RSVP” to events on a national site. RSVP’s should be made with the coordinator at the local level.
* Otherwise attempt to collect the contact data of the general public by asking for a “commitment” to attend an event.
* Use software programs that capture IP addresses and automatically add site visitors to a mailing list.
* Use a phenomenon motivated by Americans’ distress to raise money for itself by soliciting outright for donations in absence of any clearly stated purpose.
* Sell merchandise without clearly stating what will happen to any potential profit.
A truly grassroots event listing site would:
* Provide resources, information, links, about the basic issues that set off the whole movement.
* Suggest action steps even before attending an event.
* Provide links to local grassroots entities so people may find other like-minded individuals nearby with whom they can work to have an impact on the very concerns that motivated them
* Avoid “sponsorships” and entering into relationships with the alphabet soup of 501c3 corporations who have been around for decades. If these groups are so effective, why are we sitting here today?
* Provide resources, help, support, and advice for Tea Party organizers so that their events are successful and avoid the common pitfalls that fall into the hands of the mainstream media’s attempts to paint the whole endeavor as run by the Republican Party, particular organizations, and pointed at the President alone.
The end result of these events should be the laying down of the foundation for an energized, active local grassroots, that is perhaps loosely affiliated with others across the country, voluntarily in common cause. That is our stated mission and purpose in creating the following venues:

Because we have no other agenda than to support a return to limited government, we will not attempt to harvest contact information from the general public to in any list-building effort.
We will not solicit donations. The only potential fund raising we might do is to sell items (t-shirts, etc.) to defray the costs of this website. If we do opt to defray expenses in this way, we will state the percentage markup, which we would keep to a minimum so as to allow as many people who wish to, to buy items.
