This is a post – a really short post – do not be alarmed – there will not be that much reading to do – do not pass go…do not collect $200 (I think that’s like, $20,000 adjusted for inflation, right?)
Anyway…
If this had been an actual article, it would actually include important and interesting information.
This one just reports a non-event that’s costing you tax dollars. Well. Sort of a creepy non-event.
So – America is 230+ years old and SOMEHOW – we managed without a national alert system.
But – the central planners are here to correct that horrible oversight with a new (do NOT think I’m going to say improved) NATIONAL system.
Cause it’s not enough to have that headache-inducing sound from just your local government obliterating your favorite game show, soap (are any of those still on?) or the B-string interviewers softballing questions to “political strategists” with beehive hairdos and six inches of make-up on cable news. Of course, when they mess with the afternoon talk radio – well then all bets are just off, man.
But the Feds need to get in on the act. At least they think they do.
Oh wait…a second…
How many people are even home?
Probably just enough to confuse. According to a FEMA video describing the test (complete with sign language and close captioning), this first round will NOT carry the “THIS IS A TEST” in all localities. It might say “This is an emergency alert”. (Watch the video and read more put out by our friends OKGrassroots.)
Brilliant. Let’s cause panic.
Here’s what FEMA said:
“FEMA, in a collaborative effort with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), are testing readiness and effectiveness of the United States’ emergency warning system at a national level. Participants include all broadcasters, satellite and digital radio and television, cable television and wireline video providers. Regular programming will be interrupted during the test.”
