Oklahoma Committee Passes Bill That Would Minimize the Impact of Central Bank Digital Currencies

Under the proposed law, a retail establishment would be prohibited from requiring payment by credit card or a central bank digital currency during normal business hours. Retail establishments also could not legally prohibit the use of cash, nor penalize cash customers.

Rhode Island Bill Would Limit Warrantless Stingray Spying, Hinder Federal Surveillance

The legislation would help block the use of cell-site simulators, commonly known as “stingrays.” These devices essentially spoof cell phone towers, tricking any device within range into connecting to the stingray instead of the tower, allowing law enforcement to sweep up communications content, as well as locate and track the person in possession of a specific phone or other electronic device.

Rhode Island Bill Would Legalize Raw Milk Sales; Foundation to Nullify Federal Prohibition Scheme

The legislation would amend statutes governing the production and sale of milk to legalize the retail sale of raw milk. Under the proposed law, raw milk could be sold in the state subject to the same regulations and permitting requirements as pasteurized milk.

Vermont Bill Would Ban No-Knock Warrants

Under the proposed law, police officers would be prohibited from executing a no-knock warrant or seeking a warrant authorizing them to make entry into a residence “without first knocking, announcing his or her office, and giving the occupants a reasonable amount of time, no less than 30 seconds, to respond.”
