Oklahoma Republican Voters Vocal and Not Happy. What does that mean?
By Shelli Dawdy
Of course one night walking blocks for a couple of candidates isn't necessarily an indicator of a trend. But it's interesting when it coincides with national polling results in at least one important aspect. (See this Gallup poll regarding party affiliation.)
While out walking blocks yesterday in two Oklahoma neighborhoods, several folks either indicated they were no longer Republicans or would not be voting. In one instance, a gentleman who is known to be more liberty-oriented by his neighbors flatly refused to change his registration back to Republican even to vote for liberty-minded candidates. Perhaps that particular fellow is a rarity, its one thing to answer "Independent" to a pollster, it's another matter to go to the trouble of actually changing one's voter registration.
First we found the humorous look at authoritarians featured on Ludwig von Mises Institute's marvelous site. Then we discovered what prompted the post on Ampersand's left leaning site. And now we just cannot stop laughing at both of them. Do we find both of these so humourous because most of us recognize ourselves in both of them? Does that mean that we are somewhere in the mushy middle of America working to survive daily as we also strive to restore the republic? The art of relationships and healthy debate can be aided by humor if we let it. We hope you enjoy this little side by side or a walk on the far side. You decide.
Special thanks to Barry Deutsch for a delightful original graphic piece on Ampersand.

Two videos are from the "Meet the Candidate" event in Lawton Oklahoma on Saturday July 10th.
The Declaration of Independence was approved/signed on July 4th, but it was two days earlier that the Continental Congress Passed the Lee Resolution, declaring that we were independent from Britain. This simple resolution was a stirring call to throw off the bonds of tyranny:
