Getting from Here to There: The Long Road to Freedom

From time to time, our work at the Tenth Amendment Center comes under attack from anarcho-capitalists. (Or if you prefer anarchists, voluntarists or simply libertarians.) These folks object to our emphasis on the Constitution because they argue that “the state” and its various governments lack legitimacy. The argue that by its very nature, even a…

The Role of Government, and Where Liberty Comes From

The confusion that arises due to not following the Constitution is confusion over the most basic idea in society: what is the role of government? Some believe it is to keep us safe. Some believe it is financial stability, both in the form of welfare and in central banks controlling the money supply.

Honoring the Ultimate Sacrifice

“Liberty must at all hazards be supported. We have a right to it, derived from our Maker. But if we had not, our fathers have earned and bought it for us, at the expense of their ease, their estates, their pleasure, and their blood.”   John Adams ~  A Dissertation on the Canon and Feudal Law …

Angela Daniel Former District Committeewoman Pawnee County Endorses Amanda Teegarden

My name is Angela Daniel and I am the former district committeewoman, state committeewoman, vice chair and chair of Pawnee county, in that order. I am now in Creek county. Amanda was one of the first people I met when I became active in politics. She is one of the most informed people regarding the government's infringements on our liberties I have ever met. She has tirelessly and consistently lobbied our state legislature in defense of our freedoms, and has been instrumental in preventing many horrible pieces of legislation. I think Amanda has been more of an influence in state government than any other citizen in the state who does not hold a government office. She has always operated from the purest of motives, and I am honored to have the opportunity to vote for her for our next state chair. She has my full support. more info on Amanda Teegarden for OKGOP state chair

Shooting Blanks

Greg Steussel WeTexans.com Archives originally https://web.archive.org/web/20131116034941/http://wetexans.com:80/shooting-blanks/ ======================================= House Bill 553 by Rep. John Otto has all the trimmings of a great state sovereignty bill. It purports to forbid federal gun regulations from being executed in this state.  It has tough language, strong penalties and everything a states’ rights advocate could ask for…until you read the entire bill.  On the second to last page you will find the following: (4)  It is a defense to prosecution for an offense under Subsection (b) that the person … Continue reading

Big Gun, No Bullets

Listening to the interview that took place on the Chad Hasty Show (Monday January 14, 2013) with Texas State Rep. Steve Toth, I was very excited about his 2nd Amendment Protection Bill.  (Listen to the full interview here.)  His bill will mimic Wyoming’s Firearms Protection Act. However, toward the end of the interview, Rep. Toth was asked if this bill would be aimed at just executive orders or all federal legislation affecting the Second Amendment.

CHAD HASTY:  Would this law that you’re filing, would this bill still cover any federal overreach that does pass through the House?  That does pass through Congress?
