Texas Bill Would Create State-Issued Gold-Backed Digital Currency

The legislation would require the state comptroller to establish a digital currency that is fully backed by gold and redeemable in cash or gold as well. The comptroller would also be required to create a mechanism to use this gold-backed digital currency in everyday transactions.

Idaho House Passes Bill to Prohibit Requiring Credit Card Tracking Codes on Firearms Purchases

Titled the "Second Amendment Financial Privacy Act," the legislation would prohibit a financial institution or its agent from requiring the usage of a firearms code in a way that distinguishes a firearms retailer physically located in the state of Idaho from Idaho general merchandise retailers or sporting goods retailers.

California Senate Committee Passes Bill to Legalize Some Psychedelics Despite Federal Prohibition

The legislation would legalize the “possession, preparation, obtaining, transfer, as specified, or transportation” of prescribed amounts of natural psychedelic compounds including psilocybin, psilocyn, DMT, ibogaine and mescaline for personal or facilitated use.”

Idaho Committee Holds Hearing on Defend the Guard Act

Dan McKnight from Bring Our Troops Home testified in favor of the bill and explained the constitutional basis for the Defend the Guard Act. He pointed out that the current AUMFs that have been used to justify war in Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, and other countries provide for no oversight, no restrictions, and no budget limitations.

New York Assembly Bill Would Ban Warrantless Drone Surveillance

The legislation would require a search warrant prior to the use of drones for any law enforcement purposes in most situations. It would also require police to get a search warrant before obtaining any data or information collected by a privately operated drone. Under the law, police would be able to use a drone without a warrant for search and rescue operations and to survey conditions in dangerous areas after a natural disaster.

Maine Committee Holds Hearing on Bill to Set Foundation to End Unconstitutional National Guard Deployments
