Among the controversy surrounding our National Day of prayer, there are a few things that are being overlooked in these discussions. First and foremost is the fact that every day in America should be a day of prayer! And secondly we should know how & what to pray. There are two main scriptures that people use when talking about praying for our government.
The first is 2 Chron. 7:14, which most people quote as “if my people pray, then I will heal their land”. However, they are missing several key parts of this scripture. What it fully says is: “If my people, which are called by my name, will humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”
