For what seems like an extended period, headlines from around the globe seem to have been even more negative than usual. Close to home, we’ve looming tax increases in Lincoln, people who’ve been flooded out of their homes for months in the region, droughts in the south, a nasty debt-ceiling debacle and subsequent credit downgrade, perpetual “Spring” in the Middle East, stock market schizophrenia around the globe, and riots in England.
While there is a generally gloomy mood among Americans at present, at least according to some of the leading pollsters, it seems like a little perspective might be helpful.
The more things change…the more they stay the same.
Of course, that’s really just a different way of restating Ecclesiastes 1:9.
