Questions: What Is Justice? Does It Exist?

We here at GiN have been focused a lot on the City’s handling of the Occupy Lincoln issue, first and foremost because of the need for justice – the need for justice for all. Since it’s Sunday, a day of rest and reflection seems appropriate. In considering what I might share here, I wondered what… more

NU Domestic Partner Benefits: Trying To Keep Up With The (Immoral) Joneses

753px-Gustave_Doré_-_Dante_Alighieri_-_Inferno_-_Plate_22_Canto_VII_-_Hoarders_and_WastersThanks to Nancy Carr and Reverend Shannon Chestnut for bringing this issue to my attention. I have been a little pre-Occupy-ed lately. Nebraska’s Board of Regents is apparently poised to approve a provision that would extend the University systems’ employee benefits to same sex and unmarried cohabiting partners. Reportedly, the rationale for extending those benefits is to ensure that Nebraska’s “institutions of higher learning” —– YES I use that term VERY loosely —– remain competitive with peers in the ivory towers of the upper crust elites known as universities and colleges. The pressure to be competitive, I now read, has increased since Nebraska became a member of the Big Ten. Geez. Making football the center of a state’s universe actually has consequences, huh? R3s: A Special Thanksgiving Proclamation and a Blessing

When we pray for our nation this Thanksgiving Day, let our prayer be first that its people return to God; only then can our nation return to the government and freedoms that God blessed us with at it at its founding, wherein we recognized that all men have been endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable rights.. It is only when we understand from whence our rights come that we can have the proper perspective on what are our political responsibilities as believers.

OK-SAFE: ROPE Blog – Reject the Race to the Top Money

Many of OK-SAFE’s founders have long held that today’s public education system is really about behavior modification and not about instilling knowledge or producing well-educated individuals.  Many of us have advocated for the removal of our children, particularly those who are Christian, from the public education propaganda machinery, and have instead advocated for homeschooling or, [...]

Government vs Capitalism OR Crony Capitalism? What Can We Do About Greed?

A lot of people are talking about the Occupy Wall Street movement and we did publish an article about the OccupyLincoln movement this weekend. One of the central themes one can detect within this movement regards “corporate greed”, and it started with a specific criticism of the corporate greed on Wall Street and its influences… more

OccupyLincoln: The 99 Percent, The Proletariat OR The Incoherent?

So Lincoln, Nebraska has a growing tent Shanty Town, occupied by a band of intentionally helpless Lincolnites. Ironically, Shanty Town Lincoln is located squarely on one of the best spots in the City to serve as a symbol of that city government’s, and therefore, elected officials’ and bureaucrats’ mismanagement of taxpayer dollars for a very… more
