The Book of Acts records the history of the church from its beginning at Pentecost; through the period of persecution by the Jewish hierarchy, culminating in the stoning of Stephen; to the spreading of the Gospel to other regions; and finally to the establishment of the church in Rome through the missionary efforts of the Apostle Paul, and his companions.
